Tiger Moth for sale. An original de Havilland 1941 Model 82C. One of a kind. Beautifully restored.
Professionally rebuilt and
modified by classic and antique restoration expert Gar Williams.

This unique Tiger Moth was built in
Canada in 1941, model 82C. Serial #DHC-1847. It was based at several
Canadian military bases as a primary open cockpit trainer for hundreds of RCAF and
R.A.F pilots during World War II.
After the war it was sold as war surplus and was owned by several Canadian
flying clubs.
In 1969 this Tiger Moth was purchased by Richard and William King and flown to
Rhinebeck, New York, where it was featured in the air shows held there
every weekend from 1970 until 1986. The engine, a Gypsy Major 1C-2, was
completely overhauled by Gypsy Major Specialist Perry Hyde, Jr., A & P
6092471.
I purchased this classic Tiger Moth in June 1987 and turned
it over to Gar Williams of Naperville, Illinois.
It was completely rebuilt and extensively modified. The intention was
to have it more closely resemble the British made Tiger Moth 82A. The rebuild
was completed in 1991 and test flown in May of that year and delivered to
me at Koerner Airport in Kankakee, Illinois. 82 LN is now at the Viroqua,
Wisconsin Airport (Y-51).
Because of the extensive modifications, a new registration number,
NX-82LN, was assigned on May 14, 1991.
My reason for selling this beautiful Tiger Moth is singular - I have too many
airplanes. I own a Stinson Voyager 108-3, a Leza Lockwood Air Cam, and a
Stinson SR-10 Gullwing. The SR-10 has been under a complete rebuild for
seven years. Completion is scheduled for this summer.

| The Canadian Tiger Moth has some features that are superior
to the British model. These features were, of course, retained
during the rebuild. They include brakes, better cowling design, a
steerable tail wheel, steel struts instead of wood and main wheels
located about 9 inches forward when compared to the 82A model. And
the elevator trim is an improvement.
I've also installed a wind driven generator (alternator), glove
leather seat, cushions and back rest, burled maple instrument panel,
stainless steel flying wires, new tie rod between lower wings
recommended by a Service Bulletin and Slick Magnetos, a terrific
improvement. All of these additions were made recently.
What follows is the rebuild description entered in the log book
by Gar Williams:
